They are collectively called Puerto-Ricans : The majority are of European (Spanish) descent, and a few are Amerindians, plus persons of mixed ancestry, Africans, along with a small Asian minority as well.

Puerto Rico's native residents are Taino Indians....that was until the Spanish(from Spain) came to the island with African slaves...and actually different races of slave from around the world....That's why, us PuertoRicans, look so diverse in race...we can look African, Chinese, Indian, Caucasian, or even European......i know....it's weird......but that's how we are!! haha And we keep mixing!!! But the majority of Puerto Ricans, (not really "native") are made like a dollar (by 25% to make 100%) the mix is Spanish(from Spain), Indian (natives), African(slaves) and French ("conquistadors")...i hope this answers your question!!

Well, first lived the Tainos, then the Spaniards came and mixed afterwards the Africans came and also mixed and mixing the three races came us, Boricuas. All Puerto Ricans are combined with African, Spanish, and Taino (Sangre Taina) blood. Depending on how much or with who the mix was the colors and physical characteristics were made. Most of us Boricuas have a lot of Taino blood and characterisitcs. You will see that beautiful color in the streets.

If by "native residents" you mean original inhabitants before the arrival of Europeans...those will be Tainos... Caribe were not indigenous to PR...The Caribe would come around from neighboring Island and would invade the Island. then will leave.
