stinger_449: that's right, pray for the salvation of the Catholics, because that work of charity will cover multitude of your sins in bearing false witness against the Catholic Church. that's the same advice i give to people like you.

I guess it's hard to define "Christian" and there are so many dodgy cults that DO get included in this bracket (giving real Christians a bad name). Maybe people who have had bad experience with Catholic Church or just read something bad about it or something automatically just put it in the "non Christian" group. It always amazes me how people are SO opinionated about religious things with out NO real investigation or information!!! Maybe this is an example of that.

Some people say that they think most Catholics are saved, but they view certain practices in the Catholic Church (ie the importance placed on Mary and the saints, infant baptism, purgatory) as unbiblical.

This is the terminology used in some parts of the world by everyone, including the Catholics themselves. They call Catholics Catholics, and other Christians Christians.

Christians are the followers of Christ and they were first called that in Antioch in apostolic times, Catholic started to be used as a name for the followers of Christ in apostoloic times also, Catholic is the opposite of sectarian.

There's only one Christian faith as there is only one Lord and one baptism , and it's the Catholic one all others contain deviations from the truth.
The Lord gave the commandment to preach the Gospel to all, ie universal ie catholic.

Actually catholics are the ones who started it. I grew up catholic, and remember being told that we were no Christian, we were catholic. I asked my uncle who is dyed in the wool catholic, and he agrees with that statement. Most, not all, catholics have a relationship with the church, and not with christ.

FYI: the term catholic actually pertains to all believers, it means universal church. The Nicean creed calls us the catholic church

why the roman catholic church itself of course.. they deny jesus as the christ in their doctrine, they make all members Gods, and Jesus christ and go against God's word at every turn and then try to say they are christian when they do things the opposite of the way its said in the bible. it's not really a rumor more than its a comparison of the rcc doctrine to the bible..
have a nice day and as always i'll be praying for the salvation of roman catholics
