Congratulations,

If I'm in the jury I'll ask you these questions
How weathers effect the buildings, what hot, cold, dry or humid weathers efect a building.?
why cracks appear in buildings?
Which geometrical shape gives minimum length of its parameter as compared to others of same area?
What effect does winds have on towers?
What are the expansion joints in buildings?
If in a wall occures a crack on 45 angle what is the problem

Following are some views about civil Engineering as subject.

Ability to solve mathametical calculations is the main requirement. A building cannot affoard any miscalculation in its structural desin. You must be 100% perfact in this field.
Behaviour of materials and there volumes, dansities, strengths etc. are important to be known.
Characteristics of weight (loads) transformation in different forms and shapes are required to be known. What is sattlement and stability.
The father and mother of Civil Engineering are tensile and compressive strengths of different materials and which part of an object facing tensile action of forces and which one compressive, how to balance it by which material, by how much.
Mainly we put steel for tensile strength and concrete for compression.
What is a simply supported beam and what is the meaning of a cantilever, how to treat their bending moments.
How to workout quantities of a building from its design drawings and from already constructed building. What is Reinforced cement concrete (RCC)etc.
Surveying and leveling of the lands.
Soil investigation tests and compresive strength of a land to know how much load this land can bear that drive your height of the buildig and its footings design.
Project construction and management
How to draw duilding drawings and study already drawn drawings.
Prestressed concrete etc. for longer spans.

Such are the subjects you are going to study.

I'm an Architect, but I have strong civil Engineering background.
There were almost 16 girls in my class out of total 36 students.
Girls need more hardwork to grasp civil Engineerig concepts, Be ready to imagin the space 3 dimensionally.
Nothing is impossible if you are well determined.

Good luck.

Civil Engineering Interviews

The interviewers will be looking for someone who is a) well-grounded in the basics for the subject; b) passionately enthusiastic about the subject; and c) an interesting person who will make a positive contribution to the life of the university. Think what questions they will ask to see if you are that kind of person, and plan your answers. Even if they don't ask exactly the questions you expect, if you have thought through those issues you will be well-prepared. For a) think about the main things you learned from your A levels/pre-university course and how you would apply them in civil engineering. For b) think about why you want to study civil engineering and express this as positively as you can eg that you want to make an impact on the world around you or see the results of your efforts or use your understanding of materials in a practical way (don't talk about making money) For c) be prepared to talk about your hobbies & skills outside your course, and also about what attracts you about that particular university (something about its history or academic reputation or industrial links or architecture, not that it's easy to get into or near your boyfriend!). If you can find out something about the academic staff who are likely to be interviewing you (the internet is a great resource) and are aware of their special interests you may find you have something in common.

dont be suprised if you see few female students and no female faculty. Engineering is a male-dominated major around here, and civil is even more so. But on the flip side, colleges desperately seek female eng student to improve the look of there programs, and grad schools bend over backwards to get you...plus, most employeers afterwards go crazy for female engr grads.....
Engineering students for the most part are crude animals....especially civils...maybe because most of us grew up on construction sites and farms. Expect some flak till they get to know you. I walked into engr school 10 yrs older than everyone else and alot scarier...so I had no problem... : )

Civil Engineering is a good choice. I myself am a Mechanical Engineer but have many friends in Civil. They say they enjoy it and it give's some great advantages. Enjoy yourself, but be prepared to study your *** off in second year.

look at some major civil engineering project in recent years like milau viaduct and heathrow terminal 5 and be seen to take a real interest in the subject. then just relax and be yourself, if you're genuinely keen and have sufficient school grades you should have no problem

To focus your mind, take time to write down a summary of yourself and your achievements incuding hobbies and interests.
You should perhaps summarise what you think is involved in civil engineering.
Do your qualifications give you a suitable background-----summarise your qualifications.

Make up a brief summary of above and read over a few times. By doing so, you will not have to struggle for answers.
