Why people tell you not to stand in front of an emergency exit when if there was an emergency surely you would run through it?

so u won't get run over. in an emergency even if your near the open door still someone might pull you out or push you. Saw one inside a movie house.

But surely that can happen to someone who is far away from the door!?! They could move to get to the door and be trampled themselves althought they were nowhere near the door in the 1st place!
