why is it that if your the oldest sibling that everything that happens comes back to you and your blemt??

because you are the one that is the "responsible one"... so because your the oldest, the others didn't have to grow up? That runs in my family too...it's so stupid, why should the oldest one have to take the blame??? well, thats just it, your the oldest, wisest, most mature, yada, yada, yada...tell everyone else to grow up!

See its opposite in my family I have 7 brothers well had one past away last February, and 2 sisters and my mom out of my siblings had my brother, my sister and me and my brother can do no wrong in her eyes has done such horrible things said things to hurt her etc.. and even my sister has at times and I may not always be pleasent but its more like everyone assumes it is my duty to take care of her and Im the one that does even at 20 and has always been there despite what she has done to me. So it doesn't always go to the oldest. Im sorry if it does for you I know it sucks =[

I think people expect more from the eldest child I too am the oldest chil I've had tins for over 40 years now you just have to expect it and except it unfortunately

My oldest is in his late twenties, and we just talked about that recently. I agreed it was often true, and the best (true) explanation I could think of was "you're the most capable of doing it, and if you didn't, why didn't you stop so and so from doing it?" I know, mostly an unfair burden.
But as he pointed out, it worked both ways and many times he received and took credit that wasn't quite his lol

that is so true!!
my mom blames me for everything while my demonic brother stands by and enjoys my suffering..
im not really sure why but thats just the way it is...
maybe because its the fact that we are the eldest meaning we should take responsibility for everything.. but its still not fair..

because being the eldest has its pros and cons. you get to be the first to go to school, get a raise in your pocket money, go overseas with your friends,... and you also have the responsibility to make sure the household is in order. that's the catch.
