India is not poor. It is a misconception. There is poverty in India like any other country. But India is growing at a very fast pace. It is a country with one of the highest purchasing power. This proves that there is a very rich Indian society. If India was a poor country why would you see so many international brands coming into the Indian market. I feel the question is totally irrelevant.

If you compare the India what it was before 10 to 20 years ago, now with the implementation of New and Liberalized Economy Policies, India is rapidly growing in all the areas. But, still India could have recovered and made a place in the economy if corruption did'nt exist in India. The whole Indian poppulation should fight against corruption which no one is bothered. Lack of foreign investment - India was a closed economic system until the 1970s. Poor manufacturing efficiency - hierarchical management system means poor empowerment of factory workers. Excessive bureaucracy inhibits entrepreneurship. Low wages leads to brain drain to US. Lack of strategic investment in growth industries.
