because it feels so gooood.
plus, it takes a long time for you to get back to "normal". the popping you hear is from nitrogen bubbles moving around in the joints. as they return back to 'normal' you feel the sensation. you pop them again and it feels good, right?? if you stop it for a LONG time, and resist (comletely resist) the urge to do it you'll eventually stop for good.

Because air builds in between the joints and that causes pressure. When the pressure becomes annoying or painful we crack them. Cracking them pops the air bubbles for a short time, thus relieving any discomfort. Sadly the air will come back so we much continue the cycle.

Overworking your joints can carry approximately a style of arthritis, so it isn't the cracking itself, just to excessiveness of the action. Being a hair cloth cabinet for many some years could have the comparable result on your knuckles from the repetitive use of scissors. once you pop your knuckles, probability is you're actually not thinking approximately it, yet you will be able to word you are going to do it a 2d in the previous. you decide on a thank you to appeal to your interest to the action. you ought to positioned on rings on all your arms so once you experience the rings it ought to draw your interest. additionally get your human beings to assist by using putting forward to you once you do it, possibly get them to slap your hand fairly fairly stressful (coach no mercy!!) you will be able to keep away from popping your knuckles to keep away from the fantastic fury of your permission-given acquaintances. :P additionally, attempt thinking approximately whilst it is or what you're doing once you pop the main. Is it once you're occupied doing something menial or ideas-numbing or maybe something slightly sedentary (like staring at television, reading, repetitive initiatives.) Then attempt to word what initiatives you're doing once you do not pop your knuckles. attempt to top off your loose time with greater of those varieties of activities.

Because of the addictive nature of anything inivolving the word "crack".
Believe me even children are doing it now, I saw where there is an epidemicof "crack babies" so you're not the only one doing it.
Even governments like doing it take for example the local police deciding to "crack down" on prostitution.
Oh where will it end?

I do it too, and I do it because it gives a small sense of physical relief, sounds cool and is a habit. It increases if I'm nervous or bored. The things is, don't worry, its not actually bad for you. It is just the release of nitrogen gas in your joints. Studies have shown that people who do it are not at higher risk of arthritis but may develop "looser" joints as they get old (ie above 60 yrs). For me, its worth it.

Maybe you have OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder, but a milder form. Do you have other repeating/compulsive habits?
Try searching on WebMD for symptoms of this disorder. Good luck.
