Any meds! She can't take medicine for beans, and she's thrown up her last doses of antibiotics...DOES ANYONE know of any ways (tricks) to camouflauge the medicine so I can get some of it in her? The medicine she's on it Bactrim. Thanks!

Stop the antibiotic and call your doctor as soon as the next business day to have the med changed to something she can tolerate. If that is more than 24 hours away then you could consider the ER. Having a UTI is bad enough without compounding it by vomiting and risking dehydration.... a much bigger fish to fry. If you insist on getting the abx in her then be certain it's taken with food. Consider the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. A UTI is definitely not a big enough risk to her health to torture her with repeated vomiting. The UTI can wait another day to treat, but repeated vomiting can bring on dehydration in a young person very quickly. If she stops producing urine before she can get back to the MD then definitely get her to the ER for IV fluids. I hope this helps. P.S. research has shown that cranberry does nothing to aleviate symptoms or kill the bacteria causing the UTI. However, there are some die hards that believe it is true and could maybe even prove it. I have never had a UTI so I can't say from experience. I can just say what research has shown. It's worth a try though.

The best thing to take for a UTI is cranberry- either 100% cranberry juice or cranberry capsules. This takes less time to get rid of the infection than the prescription, it's something the doctors won't tell you because they're not nutritionists. My daughter had one last summer and I didn't get the scrip filled. Instead, I went to a health food and homeopathic store, got 100% cranberry juice, and knocked it out of her within a week. If you put too much into antibiotics, your body will become too used to them and build up a tolerance. Then, the next time you have that infection, you'll need a stronger dose, and so on.

She could be having an allergic reaction to the anti biotic, bactrim is pretty potent stuff. I prevent UTI's in my kids by giving them a cranberry caplet daily or giving them cranberry juice about every other day and it has worked for me so far. Make sure she doesn't take bubble baths either, that is one of the main reasons why kids get UTI's I learned the hard way. Call your Dr and explain that your daughter is getting ill from the medicine and see if he/she has an alternative antibiotic that she can take.

Can hardly blame her for throwing it up, my daughter had to have that while having chemo. I tried her meds, they are pretty awful. When i first read the question, i was wondering if she was alergic to it. You could try making her a milk shake with a strong flavour like strawberry. If she is on the tablets try crushing them and putting them in her meal. Good luck with it, i know how you feel trying to get her to take the meds.

IF SHE IS THROWING IT UP THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM YOU NEED TO TAKE HER BACK TO THE DOCTOR AND TELL HIM WHATS GOING ON.MAYBE HE CAN GIVE HER SOMETHING ELSE OR MAYBE A LIQUID.IF SHE IS THROWING UP YOU NEED TO PUT HER ON A BLAND DIET.REPEATED VOMITING CAN CAUSE DEHYDRATIONS , THAT HAPPENS VERY QUICKLY IN KIDS.SO PLEASE GET HER BACK TO HER DOCTOR ASAP!!!! ALSO HAVE HER DRINK SOME CRANBERRY JUICE THAT IS GOOD FOR AN UTI. ALSO HAVE HER TAKE SHOWERS INSTEAD OF BATHS SOAPS CAN IRRITATE PRIVATE AREA, ALSO MAKE SURE SHE IS WIPING FRONT TO BACK IF NOT THAT CAN CAUSE UTI.BEST WISHES&GOOD LUCK!I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!

If she's not allergic, just freaking out because it tastes bad, coughing, gagging, etc., then you might try laying her on her back and squirting it into the back of her mouth with a needle-less syringe. I know it sounds harsh but my son used to do the same thing and this is how his doctor showed me to do it. You have to keep them laying down until they've swallowed it and somewhat calmed down. Now he's learned to take his medicine with very little fuss because he doesn't want the syringe. Next time though, you might try asking your pharmacist if they can flavor it with something, a lot of pharmacy's do that now.

Is her doctor aware that she is throwing up the antibiotic? Because if she is throwing it up it's not going to be able to work and the UTI can become a kidney infection.

if she is allergic it, see if doctor will give her z-pac, zythromiacin,
instead. have cranberry juice for her to drink also. cranberry is awful tasting to me but it helps clear out the bladder.
good luck
