Being assertive is getting your point across and not taking in anyone elses points of view, but getting this point across without being agressive. It comes between submissive (agreeing to everyone else and letting yourself be controlled by others) and agressive (causing physical or emotional pain to force people to accept your point as right)

Assertiveness is behaving confidently and dominantly without being aggressive. It's acting like you own the situation without being an idiot about it!
One good place to be assertive is in a job interview, or perhaps even in the bedroom if you're partner likes to be more submissive than you.

Means sticking up for what you believe in. Not people push you around. But not pushing others around either. Its the inbetween (balance) of being passive and agressive.

Eg: "Do you want to watch this movie?"

Passive: "Uhh. do you?"
Agressive: "NO I DONT YOU KNOW I HATE HORRORS"
Assertive: "I dont feel like a horror tonight how about an Action movie instead?"
