The only stimulus for muscle hypertrophy is INCREASING RESISTANCE TRAINING. This has ,of course , got to be combined with an appropriate DIET and correct SUPPLEMENTS.

Muscle Hypertrophy and Strength go hand in hand.

I would advise the Weider's Techniques of

1.Pyrimiding in all your exercises while increasing weights and decreasing reps right up to Muscle Failure.
2.Thereafter ,just to fool the muscle go for drop sets.
The results are immediate.
3.You must learn to do 'Back to Back' i. e. working the agonists and antagonists muscles alternately. Example is doing Biceps alternate with Triceps- doing Hamstrings alternating with Quads-and doing Pectoralis alternating with upper back.
4. Do sessions of body parts so that you will have more force to concentrate on specific parts.

These techniques have been very well described in A.Schwarzenegger book 'Bodybuilding For Men.' . At this stage I would not advise his new Encyclopaedia. Though they are the 2 best books I have seen.

Do pyramid training as an occasion Bench Press 185 for 15 reps 200 for 10 reps 215 for 8 reps 225 for 6 reps. it is this style of issues I even have been doing. perfect of the two worlds i think of

hypertrophy specific training is not for newbies to resistance training. you really need to have the mind-muscle connection down to make the best out of that kind of training.

is it effective? yes, but so are a lot of other training programs.

if u wanna gain muscle mass and strength the best thing is to stay lo carbs and alot of protein.. i gram of protein to every pound u weight and with weight lifthing low repitions but alot of weight example 6 to 8 reps of very heavy weight for the 1st set. 2nd set 5-6 of more weight and the last set abuot 4 reps of barley possible sets
