The condition of the dead is made clear in the Bible at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, where we read: “The dead know nothing . . . There is no pursuit, no plan, no knowledge or intelligence, within the grave.” (Moffatt) Death, therefore, is a state of nonexistence. The psalmist wrote that when a person dies, “he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.”—Psalm 146:4.So the dead are unconscious, inactive. When pronouncing sentence upon Adam, God stated: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) Before God formed him from the dust of the ground and gave him life, Adam did not exist. When he died, Adam returned to that state. Therefore death is a state of non-existence. It is a deep sleep from which a person cannot be awakened by any of us. However, Jesus promised of a future where in he would awaken all those who were asleep in the graves. Jesus Christ said: “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his [Jesus’] voice and come out.” (John 5:28, 29).

Yes. The Thessalonian Christians were apparently very concerned about their Christian loved ones who had died. They expressed their concern to the apostle Paul. So, in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Paul deals with the "dead in Christ" and assures the Thessalonian Christians that there will indeed be a reunion. And yes, believers will recognize their loved ones in the eternal state.
We are told in 2 Samuel 12:23 that David knew he would be reunited with his deceased son in heaven. He had no doubt about recognizing him. As well when Moses and Elijah (who had long passed from earthly life) appeared to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (Mat 17:1-8), they were recognized by all who were present. Furthermore, in Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, the rich man, Lazarus, and Abraham were all recognized by each other in the intermediate state.

What is more to you and I is addressing our love to Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe in him, your rewards will greater than anything this earth can offer. The after life depends upon you. Since we're in belief of our God, we can only pray that our trusted friends and relatives have accepted the Christ before their death.
I am going to surrender an opinion to you, and I can not support my words, but I also have wonder the same question. The Bible gives us hints or perhaps truth of once we are taken from this world.
I believe our love will bring us close those who were save by Christ, and of those of our friends and family who knew of His word but didn't accept Him. We won't remember them at all. They (him or/and her) will be erase from our minds or thoughts.
God will give each of us the gift that we're awarded from him. People speak of a long dark tunnel and then a glorious light. Upon
the light you are taken to a true community where you reunited we your loves ones. The world you know is now passed until the moment of Christ's final judgment.
Please do not spread the word that this the truth. I can not support nor prove my theory. The only source is that dwell in my heart I, myself, would love to be in God's glory, and because of it to be reunited with the people who I dearly miss before the time of Revelation.
If you desire to be with your love one, it depends upon us.

I really believe that this is true, that we see all of our friends and relatives in Heaven (unless, God forbid, they have gone elsewhere)...........
I had a really weird experience when my mom passed........we heard a bird singing for like 40 minutes at her house after she passed and my sis said it didn't start till me and hubby showed up, plus my friend (since kindergarten) heard knocking on her hotel door at the exact time of death, the people in the room next door heard it too and opened their door but saw no one.
This question is really dependent on your faith, if you're not Christian, I can not help you.

If you believe what the Bible teaches then the answer is no.The Bible clearly shows us that when we die we go back to the ground from which we came.We are not aware of anything nor do we feel anything. The Bible likens death to a deep sleep.(Gen.3:19;John11:11-14)

No one has yet been able to come back and let everyone know if the Heaven/Paradise concept that religion sells is for real or b.s. So if anyone tells you that you do meet deceased family members, they're lying.

Have you read the Oddysey? If it is one step nearer to truth then it would be possible to do that. Oddyseus even met long past heroes before him. He even met people he didn't know. And there he met his mother who died out of grief. His father was not there to meet him, though, because he is still alive (just kidding).
