My hubby's credit card bill came to around 1.4k..So i told him before leaving for overseas next week,go pay @ least half of it so tht u dont have to pay for the interest fee as well..But he doesnt seem to budge from his answer of paying next month..due date is 29th jan..

Come on ! very negligible. You have to pay for the mistake, that all. No big deal as a credit card holder.

In order to not be charged interest you have to pay the full balance by the due date for 2 billing periods. Paying a portion or even paying a penny off will reset the FC's (finance charges) and you will have to pay the complete bill for another 2 billing periods. It really doesn't matter if you pay now or later in this case. It will only help in paying down the balance.

As least pay the minimum amount, normally is 3% of the outstanding bill, to avoid the late payment charge.

I don't see a question there.
If he pays after the due date, he will incur interest charges on his outstanding balance and his rating for the account will go down to R-2 on his credit histiry.
