At age six, an average child needs about ten hours of sleep every night. Of course, there's no such thing as an average child -- each child is unique and their needs for sleep may vary significantly from the average. If your boy has difficulty concentrating in school, or is irritable or grumpy he may need to spend a bit more time in bed. If your child is an early riser naturally, and you have a hard time keeping him in bed in the mornings, even on weekends and in summertime, then he may not need the rest that others his age do.
The important thing is remember that your child is an individual and should be given the opportunity to get more rest if it's what his body needs.

A six year old should sleep 8 to upto 10 hours a day. My kids, and grandkids always were in the bed no later than 9pm on school nights. Little children need more sleep and rest than adults. Children function better when they are well rested, and think better.

At least 10 hours depending on how active he is.
My son slept a minimum of 10 hours, of course by that age he was playing hockey 4 times a week.

I think the boy shouldn't sleep at all during the day because that makes him more energized and makes him want to stay up longer at night and makes them not want to go to sleep on a regular schedule.

As long as he needs. Waking him up or keeping him awake will do more harm than letting him choose how long he wants to sleep. Its not lazyness at this age, if he sleeps longer than usual its because his body and brain needs it.
