I have just checked this with my mechanic friend and he tells me that in reality, the service record is worthless to a degree!

In actual fact, provided the car has had the services done at the specified times, you yourself can actually do the services and sign the book, listing the mileage serviced at, the date and what was done i.e. filter changes, oil change etc!

It will or should not affect the going rate for the vehicle!

So, going to a cheaper garage will also have no effect on the vehicles value. Just get the stamp!

As soon as a new car runs out of warranty (usually three years) - and therefore there is no need for servicing at a franchised dealership - go to an independant garage. Aftermarket parts are just as good, and cheaper along with the labour.

Most vehicles are more salable with a full service history from the manufactures main dealership.

However having your vehicle serviced at a local non dealership should no affect the value of your car as long as the service record book is stamped

I take my car to a local garage as they are cheaper than Fords and they stamp the service history book so it shouldn't affect the value.

As long as the service is done to the laid down manufacturers schedule & uses the correct grade of oils etc, then it should not devalue the car. There were a number of court cases after franchised dealers claimed only THEY were allowed to service customer's cars.

No you should be OK with this although some main dealers will tell you that your warranty might be affected,
this in fact is not true, they will tell you this so that they have your business and in the process charge you a lot more for the same standard of work carried out. good luck

pick a good garage with a good reputation ,make sure the service book is stamped, keep all receipts, and when you sell your car ask them to print out from their computer all you cars work/repair/service record.I did this with mine and traded it in with our local vauxhall dealer(20 miles away) i got a good price for mine, and the garage sold mine advertising it with FSH and sold it in 10 days.

It shouldn't do. Just make sure your new garage stamps the book. Main dealers are reknown for over pricing so you will be saving yourself a bit of brass

Wont make any difference whether you have any service history these days, second hand cars arent worth much more than scrap anyway.

possibly a little but corsa cars themselves are hardly worth thousands now anyway so i doubt you'd lose much, but save on service price!
