It depends on your age.
Kindergarten on, strong look of disgust when he sees you, coupled with chasing you on the playground.
Middle School age, pretends you're invisible, but he's everywhere you go and trying to casually drape his new letter jacket over his shoulder.
High School age, buys the most expensive car he can find, gets the highest tech MP3 player and pretends he isn't proud of them when you're around.
Post High School, he pretends he doesn't see you when he has just walked 400 feet to be in your path, then if you make eye contact, gives you a shy "hi".
All bets are off where alcohol is involved: then he will loudly profess his love for you, just prior to getting sick in the sink of the kitchen at the party. Or he cries loudly for no apparent reason while looking at you, while his friends tell him "dude, she's not worth it!"

smiling at them for no apparent reason... putting themselves in their eye view... light touches on their arms or anywhere "safe", as to not offend them, yet making it a point... giving compliments about their eyes, lips, body features... girls should know when they are being flirted with and if a guy is trying to make it a point, it should be obvious... guys tend to be more open and "out there" with their attempts... good luck.

Usually he pays attention to her. Smiles at her, talks to her.
Asks her questions about, well, anything....from the weather to what she had for dinner.
He might be playful and tease her.
Trust me...you 'll know.

when he offers to carry her books
he stares at her wondering what are the right words to say to her. he's just super nice and makes somewhat funny jokes. gives her half or anything that's his. just does things friends don't do.
