Well, I have fibromyalgia, and chronic migraines; it's a kind of a cycle that each one is made worse by the other. I have been praying about it for some time now; but I pray less about it as time goes on. The Lord sometimes answers our prayers through the medical professionals and the skills that He has given them. I have seen some of the best doctors, and while I still suffer a goodly amount of pain, I have the necessary medicine to take when I need it. More importantly, I am learning the truth of the verse in Philippians 4:11...."for I have learned in whatsoever state I am in; therewith to be content". And I thank the Lord daily; for His Goodness and Mercy Endureth Forever and Ever!

You pray (i.e. rely on God curing you through the medicine) before taking the medicine. Although, praying afterwards might be considered equally good. There is a pleasant story about Moses and this very same topic. One day, Moses experienced a terrible stomach ache. He asked God - he was after all known as 'God's Conversationist' - "My Lord, what is this terrible pain? How do I get rid of it?" God pointed him to a valley and then instructed him to retrieve a certain herb through which he would make the medicine. He said, "In the name of God", took the medicine, and got cured.

After a period of time, the same stomach pain returned, so without asking God, he went to the valley, retrieved the herb, made the medicine, and took it. Nothing happened however. So he retrieved another herb, and another...still nothing. So he asked God, "My Lord, what happened? Why is the medicine not working?" He said, "Moses, the first time you took it, you invoked Me. But after that, you forgot. Only through My name do medicines work."

p.s.: these arent the exact words of the hadith, but the main point is the story.

Peace be with you.

I think of God very often and also pray him. But for just pains like headaches or minor pains and worries I do not pray. I had heart operation nd one of my family member is a Cancer patient for these things i have prayed god. That means do not pray good everything. Small things like Headaches has to go on its one or just on a tablet. So many small matters in day today life has got to be solved by itself or with little efforts from our side. So I am not in favors of Praying God for each and everything. I am for thinking him always and only pray when we are in deep trouble.

God is there and the general conception of God may be said to be that of an infinite being (often a personality but not necessarily anthropomorphic) who is supremely good, who created the world, who knows all and can do all, who is transcendent over and immanent in the world, and who loves humanity.-

When I have pain I search for the cause and react to it. If my headache is caused by stress I try to relax, if it's caused by my eyes I try to rest my eyes for a while etc. If I can't fix the problem like this and the pain is really bad, I eventually take a pain killer. I never pray.

I take medicine sometimes and pray other times and compare to determine which actually has a discernable effect on my well-being.
Oh, wait, no, that might invalidate my existing beliefs if the result of the experiment was unfavorable. We can't have that, can we?

I avoid medicine as long as humanly possible. I find that if I remove my attention from the source of the pain and instead focus my attention on my Beloved, the pain immediately subsides. As long as I can hold my attention on my Beloved, there is no pain. When my attention loses focus, the pain reapppears. Such is all things in life.

If it isn't that bad of a headache, I just ignore it. If it's bad enough I'll take an Advil. I don't pray about headaches. If there is a god, he's got more important things to do than to cure one person's headache.
