I was born in the US. my fiance and I want to get married in the states and live here. We have been together for 3 and a half yrs. Should I get a lawyer to help me with my paper work and are there any lawyers in NY City that can help me for free or low cost. We are saving money becuase I know it will take a while for her to get her work permit. Also can she go to school while she is here waiting for a work permit or do we have to wait. I am just want to make sure everything is done right and as quickly as possible. She is currently in France And I am in NY.
thanks for the help

Definately see an immigration attorney. They attorney can guide you through the right forms, help put together everything you will need and present it to CIS. They can be found by opening up the phone book. If I had to guess, you would need to get a "bring my finacee to the US" visa. I don't know if she would be able to work or go to school on such a visa, but you could find out from CIS or the attorney. Things will definately not work quick but they do work.
