My 7 year old daughter has a patch of skin right above her left ear. It is about 2 inches long and almost 1 inch wide. This area is very flaky, dry and red under the flakes of skin. She has nothing like this any where else on her body, none I looked at bath time tonight. She has very thin hair, more on the dry side and frizzy, not oilly.

I found this spot after putting her hair up today. It looks awful all flakie and red. My daughter says it hurts some but itchy the most. She acually scratched till it bleed to night. I have no idea how long she has has it, she has been very issistant on washing her own hair. He told me she did not say anything cause she is afraid I will cut her hair. What kind of skin issue can it be if it is in one area and no sign of spreading and nasty flakie and red????
What could this be? I am taking her to the doctors tomarrow if they can get her in I just can't stop thiinking about it, very worryed about reddness and size Anyone know please help?????????????

It is not a ring worm i know how to deal with them, The thing that is getting me is it is not spreading it is localized in one spot right above her left ear but for her size it is large. She IS going to the doctors in the morning i was just hoping someone might have some kind of idea. It does hurt her. Thanks

You should take her to the doctor but my best friend has psoriasis's on her scalp and it spreads to surrounding skin and this is what it sounds like your daughter has. Its not really treatable. They give you an oil that makes it less irritating but it is a condition that may or may not go away with time.

I have a patch on my foot. The skin there is dry and peeling. Although I visited the skin specialist and cost me hundreds to cure it, it came back within a year.

Now I am eating different. Eating mostly alkaline food. The alkaline diet reduce the size of the affected area on my foot by 70% without evening applying any medicine.

One thing that occurs to me is ringworm. Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin. Your daughter could possibly have caught it from animals -- do you have any pets? It's a good idea to take her to the doctor. And make sure that she washes her hands after scratching and try to keep her from scratching because it might spread.

Get it checked by a doctor. Could be cancer or skin infection.
