We are thinking of going there for a little family break in the Spring. Has anyone been there or know what kind of things there are to do? We have two young children so rock pooling etc would be good. Any help would be great.

Tintagel Castle is believed to be one of the castles owned by King Arther. Tintagel is big on Cornish Celtic legend. Last there in c1972, so apart from eating lots of pasties and drinking the local beer, cannot remember much more about the place. The scenery is spectacular with the Atlantic rollers crashing on the rocks below the cliffs. It is an excellent location for a Spring Break.

There's a Cornish saying, which in Cornish looks like this : Pysc stan ha cobber (Fish, Tin and Copper).

While in Cornwall (Celtic spelling Kernow), do try the cream - clotted and thick. The local fish n chips are fried in beef dripping by the way. Lots of local seafood upon which the Cornish dine - try some.

Becca above is right about Padstow especially if you want to celebrate May-Day. Padstow has the 'obby oss' which only comes out on May-Day. The men go about the town with the 'obby oss' singing such as "oh, Summer is a comen in". (Reminds me of the movie "The Wicker Man" - a pagan rite of Spring going back to pre-Roman times and of Celtic origin).

Have fun.

Cornwall is a couty positioned interior the major south westerly nook of england - cities like Plymouth, Truro Penzance, Newquay, Redruth and St Austal are in Cornwall as is the well-liked Land's end - the major south westerly component on the British mainland. Cornwall is about 3 hundred miles from London (in reality west) or one hundred miles south west of Bristol to have a seem bypass to Google Earth and navigate to 50 degrees north, 5 west or search for for Penzance, uk

The castle has lots of steps and is hard work to go up and down; very high and the stairs are open to the sky(if you are afraid of heights). You can't take a buggy up it. The whole town is quite steep and not buggy friendly, and not many of the cafes have a child's menu. The beach is craggy and rough but full of rock pools though.

Went last year with to young children 3/7 yrs. Both enjoyed it .They have a land rover to take you to and from the castle.Would say that the 3 year old legs are not long enough to climb the steps to the castle.Lots of activity farms around that area.
