AVG was great, but now they are getting rid of the free version. Does anyone know of any good programs that are free?

AVG isn't getting rid of the free version they are just changing it. You can upgrade to the newest version of the free edition if you currently have AVG. You should have received an alert message at the end of the year letting you know that your current free version would soon be discontinued and have been provided with a link to download and install the newest free version. You can find the new version on the AVG website if you look for it. I believe it is under the download section and provides a link to a seperate website where you can download it just as you always did before. It is just now as easy to find now as it used to be, but it is there none the less. I just downloaded it myself. Take another look. I don't believe they will ever completely discontinue their free version. At least I hope not any time soon. I have not been able to find a comparable alternative either free or for a fee. Hope I don't have to. Hope this helps

AVAST Home version (FREE)

It does require you to register, but it is easy to do so, and it is a free licensee for a year. Like AVG the license is designed for home use only and not at commercial businesses.

It work as good as good if not by better then AVG.

Some of the technology is more advanced, as well as the services are managed individually.

They are not getting rid of it. It's just a little hard to find now. It's still free and not much different, so I don't know why they are making such a huge hassle, but whatever.
