if you're using windows xp (i do), use it's firewall settings.. you can block particular sites there.

Depending on which websites you want to block, you may be able to do this with your browser. Check out the "Options" or "Preferences".

try cnet.com, click on the downloads tab, then on the left side of the screen, click on the security & spyware, and then on the left side of the screen again, click on adware and spyware removal. Good luck

Try Spybot---Search and destroy, when you immunize it blocks many bad websites.
