If you can develop the self-assurance not to concern yourself with someone else's snobbiness... you will have already beaten them. And they will know it immediately. :) It has nothing to do with money or status. It's about self-confidence. You can see this in social situations, quite distinctly. The richest man in the world, throwing his money around at a bar or party, won't get as much attention as the confident bartender or floorsweeper that's happy with his life, and is enjoying the evening. Personal power is the key.
The key is to be happy and content with yourself. If you can achieve that, no snob will ever look down on you. The great thing is, no one will view you as a snob for being confident, either. They will see you as a strong person, and nothing more.

I say this as a former snob, who learned the error of his ways. And trust me... I learned it the hard way. :)

Geek - It's so amazing how soon we forget...how quickly we puff up with pride, ...how our walk becomes a strut. The Bible tells us "Pride goeth before a fall". I've lived long enough to see this be true in my life and in others. Just give your snobby people a little time, pray for them, because the "fall" is just around the corner and will come in a way they will least suspect.

My 1st step mother was a snob, and I lived with her as a teen-ager. I came really close to picking up her snobby habits. But I realized how bad she hurt people with her attitude and I swore never to be like that. But I have to confess that sometimes I am an intellectual snob. It is sometimes hard for me to treat people who are allot less intelligent than me with respect. I just have to force myself to remember how much my step mom hurt other people, and how sad I was when she hurt people so.
Before I became a Christian I was dumb as a post as well. It is Christ in me that gave me the huge craving for books and knowledge that I have, so I should not be snoby.
I should thank God for giving me the knowledge that I have instead of sticking up my nose at others.

You don't have to be a "spiritual person" to deal with snobby people in as nice a way as possible. I'm a cashier, and I have to deal with a lot of stuck up, rude, sometimes downright nasty people....all I can really do is serve them the best that I can, make my best attempt to be polite, and let it roll off my back. If they want to be unhappy and in a bad mood, that's their own problem and I don't let it affect me negatively.

You can cope with their behavior by understand what is under it. They are not secure in their own personhood. They fear that they must be more, have more, etc. It is their insecurity that drives them. When you understand this you can let them be, just as you would a child that was playing a game of pretend. When you know yourself and can be content with who you are, the bad and the good, you do not need any external things. You do not need the praise of others. You can just be.

I look at a person and say to myself is this person going to even care that I am upset ? Is he or she going to loose any sleep over it? Why should I make myself sick with anger and offense, after all my health is more important that some snotty remark made in ignorance or self pride. To me it's not worth it, besides when I go to bed at night I give my worries to God. He'll be up all night anyways. If anything someone says makes me upset I have to give it to the Lord and forgive that person in my heart.

There are people like that at church, materialistic, millionaires wanna-be's, who just like to snub ordinary folks until they hear you have loadsa money and they come greeting you with false smiles.

These are what we call 'extra grace required' people. For me, I just do my part and for time being I have been ignoring these people cos they don't matter to me and honestly speaking are they the type of friends you want to rely on.

Spiritual or non-spiritual... we still get annoyed with 'em, don't we?
It takes a lot of patience and perseverence to 'love' them. Oh, and also a prayer. Could be short or long, still, pray and believe.
And in the meantime... wait.
