Ignore the brand names - find a store that'll do a foot scan, then match you up with a brand that'll suit your running style. XX brand might be a good running shoe, but if it's not really suitable for you, it could wind up doing more harm than good in the long term

Like others have already mentioned the best or correct running shoe for you is dependent upon the type of runner you are (height, weight, foot type etc.). Go to a local specialty running store and have an experienced person properly recommend the best options for you. The better ones available now are Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, New Balance and Saucony. Each of these companies has shoes for neutral runners, stability shoes for a bit of motion control or the most controlling shoes for heavier runners or those needing a lot of foot control as well as support.

I have a pair of Adidas, and they are probably the best ones I've ever used. They've lasted two years so far! Also, Nike is always a good choice. You'd have to find the right ones for you though. Shoes do make a difference in running.

Who doesn't?
It really matters on the type of running..
Do you need a short distance running shoe..a trail running shoe. A shoe that needs to last for long distances?

It really depends on what you're running...for example, I run high school cross country, and I've had a pair of Adidas, Mizunos, and Asics, and really, I have no preference yet. I'd have to go with Mizunos-they're kind of hard to find in some places, but with my type of feet (narrow with medium arches) they work pretty well. Of course, Asics are a classic shoe, and most of my team wears Asics...I need a new pair-maybe I'll go try out another pair of Asics :)

I run in asics GT 2120 which are the best for stability. For you though go to a specialty running shoe shop and have the sales people take a look at your feet and stride to determine which shoe is best for you.

My dad makes the best running shoes I've ever seen. He uses duct tape. Now, I know you're thinking to yourself that this sounds silly, but it really did help him with his pronation problem. Rather than going to dish out $100 bucks for a new pair of high-tech rubber shoes, try making your own out of 2 rolls of duct tape (one roll for each foot) for about $1.49 a roll. Make sure you double side the tape though so you can take them off when you're done with them, the first pair he made he forgot to and he wasn't too happy when he had to take them off.

Nike. Most of the great runners are wearing the brand. There was an independent lab test done in my area and Nike met the specifications it stated for the shoes.
For me, my first choice is Nike as I am a runner serious about performance. Just Do It!
