If I remember right the ticket would have to say reckless driving if they were going to fine you for it. If it just says driving 90 in a 65 mile an hour zone then its just a speeding ticket. The tickets that I have had in the past have all had the fine amount listed on it somewhere. Check your local laws in some states like Kansas you can pay double the fine to have it changed to a non moving violation which in the long run will save you money on your insurance. Don't be surprised if you end up paying a pretty large fine. Good Luck and drive safe hospital bills are a lot more expensive.

I'll just give you some advice since I don't know the law in your case but seriously, let this be a warning for you no matter what happens. Let's just say I know someone who around age 19 started with one speeding ticket which quickly became 3 cuz this person thought they knew better and thought they were a safe driver and speeding didn't matter. Then they got into an accident at age 26 because even after 3 speeding tickets, the lesson never quite sunk in. Well the picture seems pretty clear for this person now, but it was an extremely expensive and dangerous lesson, please don't follow in their footsteps, it was a frustrating thing to witness. For your sake and for others', drive safe on the streets and keep the racing strictly to the tracks.

Well, you should pay it.
You should be thankful they only said 90. I think reckless driving is 15 or more over. But I think it depends on the state. I wouldn't be surprised if your ticket is around $800-1000. But then again, it might be only $500.
Since this is your first offense, you might get it a bit easier but again you should be glad they didn't add the extra 7.
I'm really not an expert on tickets. But I hope it goes well for you and I hope you learned a lesson!

My husband got a speeding ticket a few years ago. They just sent him a bill -- he didn't have to go to court. Also the form he got with the bill said he could attend a driving class to keep from having it go on his record. So he paid the ticket and took the class and is a more careful and safer driver now. Yes, it will be expensive, but consider yourself lucky. It's a much cheaper wake-up call than a bad accident.

First offense...it's quite possible you can get it reduced even more. Go talk to the magistrate and see if he'll reduce it more. Pay the ticket and yes, slow down. I think most of us speed, but you were close to 40 mph over the speed limit.
I really don't want to sound like a sob story but you are much more likely to be killed or seriously injured if you lose control of a car going that fast. Please value your life more and slow down. Life is way more valuable than how fast you can go or how quick you get to your destination or not being late to where you are going.
Good luck and take care : )

In Texas, that'd be a VERY expensive ticket. I don't know about California. What should you do? Man, the answer should be obvious, but you're young, so I'll tell you. Pay close attention, now.
1.Pay the ticket.
2. Slow the freakin' heck down.

No they will more than likely not charge you with reckless driving. If they were going to do that, they would have done it when the officer pulled you over. Just go to the court and pay your fine.
Good luck.

heres what you might want to do...
well before the court date, write a letter to the D.A. adressed to the courthouse. write it out to "District Attorney". in this letter, swear up and down you were not speeding. be creative.say there was heavy traffic, the guy in front of you was going much faster,... just make it sound like you are 100 percent sure you werent speeding. also, in this letter, indicate that you are more than willing to drag this out in court as long as possible with the necessary reprsentation in order to prove your innocence. this is called a letter of explination. at best, they will offer you a reduced fine, probably a broken tail-light or maybe a non moving violation. pay the fine and get done with it.
or.....
you can hire a lawyer, he will 'probably' get it reduced. if your not short on cash, i would recommend this option. look in the yellow pages
you do not want to get convicted of this charge, your insurance will go through the roof. so the lawyer fees would most likely more than pay off in the long run.
another thing. im not sure about the technicalities of traffic tickets in Ca, but in NY you can request a supporting deposition(if the cop diddnt include one with the ticket). anyway, they have 30 days to get it to you. if they fail to do this, your ticket has to be dismissed, or reduced to a parking fine at most. but do this with someone with at least a little legal experience, because there are some technicalities you have to weave through...
make sure whatever you send to the courthouse, send it "certified mail" if you have any questions you can e-mail me. mml17inny@yahoo.com
and oh yea... do slow down. do you want to die? keep it below 10 over the limit
lol, people are voting me down. yes, i realise this isnt the moral way out, and the kid probably should learn his lesson by paying for it. but he wasn't asking for a lecture on why not to speed...

What should you do, Reza? Pay it, and then start to realize that your vehicle, if it hit anything at that speed, would have been TWICE the weight it would have been at 65. Then learn to drive, and you may live to see 21!
No offence meant, lad. I've been driving for 54 years, and as a Policeman, have pulled bits of people your age out of fast cars, and it didn't give me one scrap of joy.

You will get fined for speeding becuz that's what it was issued for,and yes it will probably be expensive, and give you points on license and may make insurance premiums go up. SLOW DOWN it gets expensive going to see the judge.
