My daughter is crying because her leg bones are hurting. I think they are growing pains. Do you know of any fast relief for her discomfort?

Advil or Ibuprofen always worked for me. Just don't give her asprin. Or you could try giving her baby asprin. There is also a liquid/children form of Motrin that works well.

An anti-inflammatory may help, but not always. When my daughter was younger she used to get growing pains, sometimes so bad that she could barely walk. I've found that doctors don't really do anything other than maybe prescribe pain meds tell you to take OTC meds. My daughter would only hurt for maybe a day or two and then be back to normal. Thankfully she is out of that now.

My own "growing pains" at fifteen turned out to give me 50 years so far of chronic pain from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and scoliosis. I am not sure I believe in growing pains. Take your daughter to a doctor and make sure there isn't something going on in her body that needs medical attention. You will at least have peace of mind when you find the cause and the doctor can suggest the best way to relieve her pain.

My son gets growing pains usually in the middle of the night. I give him ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and then apply an ice pack to where ever it's hurting.

there really isnt any fast relief. place a heating pad on low under her legs and prop them on a pillow. give her tylenol or ibuprophen. thats about all you can do. along with reassurance. try a little calcium at night too. it helps to relax the muscles. my son had that problem as a child too. good luck

Any discomfort killers with artwork, ideally sturdy ones. Ask your physician about getting them bumped off. Its hell on earth for a week yet you get vicodin and that permits sooooo a lot.
