Over the weekend, I sat straight (without moving and it cramped conditions) for 2 and a half hours at a restaurant. The chair was hard wood and I didn't lean back so that my butt took most of the pressure either, most of the pressure was on the backs of my thighs as I was leaning forward. I'm 27 and female. I'm terribly frightened I may have gotten a blood clot from this period of non movement and pressure on my legs. Is this a realistic concern?

You are probably fine. Unless you are experiencing some sort of side effects. Blood clots are painful at the sight and are usually red and hot to the touch. In the future though get up once and a while and walk around.

Unless you've been diagnosed with coagulation issues in the past, then you don't have anything to worry about. Many things outside of not getting enough movement of your legs are involved in the formation of blood clots. If you were stuck in this situation without the ability to move for, say a week, you might have a little cause for concern. But 2 1/2 hours? Nothing to worry about besides a little discomfort.

My goodness, such a big worry. If sitting that long would cause a blood clot in a young woman then NO ONE should fly in an airplane, sit through school or ride a train or bus.

Next time, get up and stretch your legs. And don't worry so much.

It is unlikely or you would (probably0 be in pain. I have to assume that you had the choice to move.

Don't be frightened until, or if, you need to be.

You don't have to worry. The clot would have travelled to your brain and killed you by now.
