It depends on how tight you pull your hair back. Yes it can it's called TRACTION ALOPECIA this is a type of baldness, mainly caused from having your hair pulled back too tightly, you'll find ballerina's may get it, so it has to be pulled back very tightly and for long hours. General pulling back of the hair will not cause this type of baldness.

Also by using the wrong hair ties it can cause breakage eg. the ones with little bits of metal on them, the metal rubs on the hair and snaps it.

Not necessary. Its more of how tightly you pull the hair. That causes strain on the follicle causing to fall out. However, dying your hair a lot with harsh chemicals will make it fall out.

yes ,it is true .most of the time hair loss from keeping your hair up is caused by those elastic pony tail holders. being worn to tight around the hair and it pulls out the hair..lots of hair accessories will do this if not worn slightly loose.

Well then I should be bald by now! It is VERY hot where I live and I tie my hair up for work EVERYDAY! (gets to 34 degrees plus!) Have for years. If anything, it keeps your hair clean from smoke, smog etc. When I tie it up just after washing it, when I let it loose at night it smells sooooo good.

If you keep it tight then yes it will because your hair cannot breath unless you put it in a breathable style let your hair be a little loose.

No, but you will hurt your scalp for instance if you tie your hair in a tight pony tail each day.
