As far as the engine? It's a SOHC 4.0 just like the Ranger and Explorer. It's a step up from the previous 3.8/3.9 V6, but it is still a little sad. Surely Ford would have come up with a few more horsepower in the 10+ years that variant of the engine has been in production, But NOoooo! As it stands, it is the biggest V6 with the lowest output in it's class. Even the fat-butt Challenger SE buries it in horsepower and makes a few more ftlbs torque with an engine that is 1/2 liter smaller. (fortunately the Chally 6 is a little on the porky side so the Mustang can handle it) It's built in Flat Rock, MI by AutoAlliance International alongside the Mazda6. Yep! Built in the same factory as a Mazda. Maybe that's why the second digit in the VIN is not an "F". Overall, the Mustang seems to be pretty good. I am usually wary of first year prouction. The first year seem to have a few bugs but I can't think of any glaring defects in the 05 Mustang. So, just as long as you don't go picking fights with V6 Camaros, Genesis Coupes....or you know, PT Cruiser GTs (10 more hp/same torque), I think it will be a pleasurable car for you.
