I've been shopping around. The cheapest I found was $140. Are they worth it? I have 2 cats, so I'm constantly changing the litter box.

I have a Litter-Robot--costs about $300+ dollars. Got this one because heard too many complaints about the Litter Maid (string gets nasty and stops working, comb gets nasty, stops working, can't handle two cats, etc.) and I have two cats so did some research and decided on the Litter-Robot. It's a big globe that rotates while sifting out the clumps leaving only the sandy stuff. I just went away for 6 days and the machine handled all the waste for 2 cats for 6 days just fine (but, was at capacity and one more day probably would have been too much). It keeps the litter constantly clean. I just have to remember to change the waste bag twice a week (could go longer but I tend to forget to do it at all if I don't do it on trash day and then on the weekend). It's expensive but lasts for many years, my cats are fine with it, company has a pretty good help line and replacement policy.

I had one. It might be good for you. I know if I had 1 cat.....I would DEFINATELY get one. See, I have 5 and they loved it. But it turned into a pooping contest. As soon as one would go they all line up and it was too much for the poor litter box to handle. I decided on 2 seperate normal litter boxes I just change them out every day. Good luck!!!

I had one and I hated it. One of my cats had loose BM and it would get caught in the sifting comb and then it would start pushing ALL the litter out and the whole thing would be a horrendous mess. NOTHING is worse than having to clean out the stupid mechanism.
We had 2 cats too.

My brother in law has one and I understand that it works great for him and his single cat, so I guess it just depends on the cat.

I had one, do not waste your money. Their 'potty' gets stuck in the rake, like the other answer said, and it's not a good investment.
My cat's found that it was more fun to lay in the box and let the rake push up against them until it stopped and eventually broke.

I have an auto box....LOVE IT. My only complaint is that the poo & pee can get caught in the rakes. You solve this by spraying Pam on the rake & stuff doesn't stick. Unless the grate pierces the poo than that's another issue...otherwise...if you get one just remember this tip.

its amazing how this works! lol People either love um or hate um. I bought one(expensive i must add) and IT SUCKED, like a year later a friend who i trusted( dont just get one from a garage sale, it had droppings in it remember and there for chances of disease) who gave me one, and that one worked excellent... its sorta a coin toss! lol i noticed from the other replys the same effect, some people love it, some hate it... what ever you do, i hope it works out! good luck! :)

I wish I could afford a couple of them, myself. My sister has one and she loves it. It also used to be amusing to watch one of her cats smack that thing with its paw, as though it were a monster.
