HBC is not difined by its music but we us Southern Gospel in our services. Youth in this area do not associate with SG and so they will go were more secular music programs exist.
The church leadership has been given the go ahead to incorporate a more youthfull aproach in the sunday night sevice. We do not want to be defined by our music but as a Bible believing, Christ centered church.

My question is this... Were do we find contempary hymnals that are not all vane repetitions but glorify God.

We are raising funds for an activity center, and are about to enter into the second of three stages. How do we get people in on the ground floor, so to speak.

At times I find myself weak in spirit and my wife tells me that I am lossing my "zest". Please pray for me and mine and any help you can offer is greatly apreciated.

The Hillside Songs from Australia are contemporary and edifying to God. If you can find a local Christian bookstore in your area they will usually have a large selection of Christian music and song books also. Have an audition for the youth and let them have a band of their own, and allow them to play one or two songs at the evening Sunday service. You will be surprised by the inspiration that God gives to the youth.Trust in God to bring the right people for the right need.
If you want to get back into the zest, start singing and worship the Lord whenever you have a chance to do it. That works for me, like when I'm in my car, washing dishes, or in the shower. Bless you in your new adventure as you serve the Lord.

Brother, I will definitely pray for you and your church.

A great place to start is with an artist named "Chris Tomlin." His music is extremely Christ-centered and is pure biblical worship. Once you find that music, you'll see many others like him.

If you want some samples, message me through this site with your email address and I'll get you some.

PS: Don't get discouraged by the inevitable stupid responses you're likely to receive. It's a real battleground in this yahoo topic area.

First and foremost you must make sure that the Lord is aiming for your church to reach out to the youth. Otherwise your just wasting your time. This my involve many hours of prayer and fasting. Remember, His will not ours.

If your absolutely certain that it is driven towards younger people then He'll make them come. Just preach the Gospel and sometimes use words. Your example is what will bring them in. The youth are definitely seeking Truth and we, as faithful Christians, must step up and be willing to sacrifice ourselves for the glory of God and the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Love is key.

Church growth is in the "hands of God". It seems to me that God is busy (you might say) with restructuring [pruning] churches. It appears that this is going on all over the world. Could God be taking Christians into another "phase" or stage of His plan for mankind? Interesting - at least I think so.

Find music that reflect your "bible believing, Christ center church".

As for your zest, focus on God. You are weak because you have not focus where you need to be focus.

Remember, it is not your Church but God's Church. Because it is God's church, be faithful and patience.

Vineyard Music has great, uplifting and powerful music that is Christ centered. Check out the website they set up for their store. http://www.vmg.com/usa/ for a slightly mellower music, try searching for "maranatha music".

Pruning? Is that were you execute or throw out those unworthy of your presence? I'm not really sure how that shows Christ's love.
