The younger one is still a baby and he likes to play alot. But like you said he is starting be the dormant one. What he needs, if he gets really out of hand, is for the older cat to whoop his butt. Let me explain..........I have 18 cats, 3 are strictly indoor cats (no claws), 9 are in/out cats, and 6 strictly out side cats. My female (Baby) will be 9 in April, and crabby as any cat can be. She has two brothers that weigh 18 pounds and 20 pounds, she weighs a mere 7 pounds; she can and will tackle her brothers if they get in her way. I've seen Baby Huey go rolling across the floor. She dominates all the cats, she will chase and scream at them because they were in "HER" space. One of the dump-off cats got tired of her crabbing and turned on her and gave her the old evil eye, she turned and left. Baby doesn't chase Capt. Hook anymore, well, not for a while. As long as the others run, she will chase them. If they stand their ground, she doesn't do anything. So if you get a kitten, he will terrorize it, unless you keep after him.

Sure he'll be jealous at first. You'll just have to watch him for a while. If both males are neutered, I would be tempted to get a female. The younger one may except her more easily.
Right now I have 7 cats and they all get along just fine. Each one had to go through an initiation period. The strange thing about cats is that they could absolutely hate each other, but at feeding time they'll all get along just fine. Good Luck!

Might not be a good idea to get one just yet it seems as though the younger cat still has some growing up to do, when it is much older it may be more approving of another cat but i wouldn't get one just yet sounds like this cat has a few territorial problems, or is just a jerk like some other males i know..lol

It sound's to me like you 2 year old is still testing boundries. This is very normal, and no I don not believe that getting a new cat at this point is going to be good. Your older cat must first put the younger in his place, then it will be ok, This the pecking order thing that all youngsters must learn, and better to do it one cat at a time.

It's very normal that a younger cat does that to your other cats. It's called playtime and eventually they'll all get along. I have six cat's and wouldn't do anything different about their actions. It's like raising kids....They all have their own personality's and I love them all. I saved them from being put to sleep and have had them since October 2004. They have done everything you can imagine to each other...now they all sleep, eat & play together. Good Luck on your dicision.

Well, I had 8 cats. But two of them were females. I think u can get a new kitty, with more time your yournger cat wil also tend to get along well, as it is likely that the older one will take it as freindly.

Yes, he would be jealous. He might hurt a young kitten, so be careful if you decide to get one. Maybe you should just enjoy the two lovely kitties you already have.
