Call someone to come pick them up or else wait for another person to drive past. Don't get into a car with a stranger, though. Ask them to drive to the nearest gas station and request a tow truck for you.

if the cell phones work, call for help. There are so many variables to this possibility but once in this situation you have to think of your own safety first, take inventory of what assets you have to help you get out of the situation and use them sparingly, a cell phone with a dead battery is Useless. Obviously you also have to consider the safety hazard your car presents to other drivers and eliminate that if you can. A flat tire is no reason to park your car in the middle of a highway, move it out of the way.
That all being said, if you consider this question before the situation arises, and take the necessary steps, you'll likely never have this problem.
O Ya, If your going to be travelling in the middle of nowhere, tell someone where you are going and when you expect to come back, then at least someone will be able to get some kind of a search going for you when you are over due, don't forget to call that person on your return and tell them that you are back.

lol i wanna get stuck ina blizzard one day.. just so i can be like that dude on the discovery channel or w/e channel that dude is on. Ya kno' ... THAT dude. the survival dude. seriously tho.. what i would try to do is remove the battery from the cell phone and rip out 2 copper wires from my radio dash that i dont need (hafta save the radio for later! =x) and try to short circuit the wire over a pile of dry brush+sticks. even if it failed, it prolly would only shock you a little bit (DONT TRY THAT AT HOME YOUNGINS!). I'm sure i would think of some other things if i was in that situation.. you cant predict the situations youll endure so the only thing you can do is stay open to ideas and experiment. Fuses could prolly come in handy.. short circuit one of those and you can prolly get a small fire started.

My mom bought me a small bottle (size of a spray bottle can) of compressed air, meant to refill tires in an emergency ( means of escape if conditions clear up after you're trapped ina storm and the air in your tires has all compressed and your tires are flat). She thought it was a smart idea and she was kinda proud of the fact she thought of that (as i was annoyed that i got an entire safety kit plus additional safety tools according to every and any emergency situation -- bear in mind! at least once a year every person gets trapped in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bears and polar bears! .. moms..) As she was congradulating herself for thinking of this idea and finally putting some hope in her over-obsessive motherly head that if i get stuck like those people in oregon, i would have the tools to live and return home... i decided to make the (what i thought was obvious) point that if i was trapped in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but woods, i would take the bottle of compressed air and blow it through a flame creating a flamethrower... and with that flamethrower i would just burn the entire forest down... WHO COULD MISS THAT?! thats better then a flag or flare gun... Personally, i thought that was a genious idea... apparently my mom didnt because she took it back the next day... OWELLS ... i have a better idea now anyways...

ill just tear off my hood and my trunk, create a fort sorta thing... then with the fabric and insulation on the seats, i would insulate the inside of the fort... and then id start a flame and throw it into the car and wait for it to explode (when the time is right)... Even if they miss the explosion.. id still have a nice fire going (after the gasoline explodes)! keep throwing some sticks/logs in there and itll work out perfect! If worse comes to worse, ill take one of the sticks, stick it into the flame, and start a forest fire!

wow wheres blizzard andrew when you need him?!

Immediately call 911 on your cell phone. There are also signs posted on the sides of some highways indicating emergency numbers that you can call. A good thing to remember is to always be prepared. You should have a blanket, flashlight, and even a first aid in your trunk JUST INCASE!

If you were stuck in a rut, I would tell you to get the new McDonald's breakfast bun. But stuck in the middle of nowhere, is scary.

Call 911. They can trace where the cell call came from

Have AAA and call them. It has saved me so many times.

Other than that, be cool, if you feel you are in danger call the authorities, if you are safely off the road stay in your car and wait for help.
