I am considering adding an HD-DVD drive to my XBOX 360 but at this point it is currently only good for movies and not games. It is only $200.00 about half the cost of a stand-alone player but if the picture difference is not huge I don't want it.

There are currently no plans on putting video games on the HD-DVD format. Basically, it is only for movies.

The big question, is the difference huge to justify the cost? For $200, the answer is yes. For $500 or more, I don't think so.

The difference is only going to be significant, if you have an HDTV 720p or 1080p and connecting via HDMI. If you have a SDTV or EDTV, then you are probably not going to notice any difference.

You will only benefit from the HD-DVD drive if your TV is also HD. You must also use what is called HDMI cables to connect the HD-DVD to the HD-TV. Without doing this, you will not see a difference.
And yes, it is worth the money to be able to go HD.
Good luck.
