What has appointment of a Caliph, 1400 years back, were given do do with our believes preserved in the Quran continually. So the answer of sure and no are both irrelevant :) This all should be considered with the understanding that God shown that God perfected the religion of Islam and guaranteed the authenticity of the entire Quran, declared persistently the simplicity of the message plus inspired us to meditate on the message of the Quran over and throughout back, declared the completeness of the message for the entire of mankind and all cases to go back.

NO.
Murder means "the UNLAWFUL killing of a human". So, show me proofs that there was ever an UNLAWFUL killing of a human committed or condoned by the Prophet (peace be upon him). You cant claim the lives of soldiers taken in battlefields and wars as unlawful, by any standards.
Go figure.
"History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated."

No, he forbade the killing of innocents and even said to strike a fruit bearing tree out of anger was a sin. Then again, you're asking a drunk muslimah, LOL. J. Roget shouldn't be so intoxicating, should it?

It is a historical fact that in his early years he both condoned and committed murder. As I understand it, he mellowed out as he got older, and may have changed his mind on the issue.

Yes. And it's bizarre and unsettling that there is a "Prophet" that was a murderer, compared to other ones like Christ and Buddha.
