I think most people are virtuous because they want to get to heaven not only to see the face of Jesus that they have read about in the bible but also because the bible says we are to serve others. Look at Jesus he was perfect when he was on this earth and he did nothing but serve others. He was a simple man and had no materialistic things.

First off , thank you for calling me virtuous. I hope I can live up to that. I already am assured of heaven because God promises that . How virtuous I am does not determine that. It was because of Christs' forgiveness. I try to be good out of love and gratitude to God and love for my fellow humans.

Think about it. If a friend of yours saved your life, would you want to be good to him just so he would like you and want to be your friend or would you love him out of gratitude?

I'm virtuous because I care for my fellow Man. Something that I learned through Jesus Christ.

Martin Luther says that every virtuous work in our eyes is dirty sin in the eyes of God. Our only true virtuous works are the ones we do not know about. There is nothing we can do to gain virtue with God. Martin Luther, in his later years also like to tutor his students in pubs. One of my favorite quotes by him is:

"We all need to tell satan to take a **** in his pants and tie it around his neck".

simple religion

I do, so my genie god can do for me...

very, VERY selfish

but the ironic part is a simplistic god suppedly denies your self and your sexuality, your free will and creation/nature and says you are imperfect and never can be virtuous without going through their convenient car wash of spirituality
