I am trying to add bulk to my body. I am a hard gainer, even with lifting 4-5 times a week consistently. I have just started implementing a new eating routine, where i wake up and consume cereal, yogurt, oatmeal etc at about 9am then go back to sleep until 12 pm every day of the week. My question is, will this benefit in my quest to put on muscle, or is eating and then is eating then going back to sleep bad technique to obtain the calories and proteins i need for during the day? Light on this would help...thanks

if youre wanting to put on muscle the best thing to do is eat a ton of protein and work out. if you are eating and sleeping i dont think thats gonna help. if youre serious about putting on muscle eat six smaller healthy meals a day and make at least two of them a protein shake, one 30 minutes before and one 30 minutes after your workout. ive seen people put on 20 pounds of muscle in a few months doing that.

Always had the opposite metabolism. I used to build muscle fast. Six months of eight hours a day hard labor gave me all the muscle I wanted. My issue was trying to keep trim and not look fat.

If your goal is to be a body builder, then I think it may be the wrong thing for you just like I'll never be an olympic pole vaulter. However, if you want to get some pile driving muscles, then you need to do more than just lift. Though you risk injury, if you want power, you need low reps big weight. I stopped when I could bench 220 lbs at age 16 and do 3 sets of 15 reps of 750 lbs leg press. Still have those thighs 30 years later. haha! Seriously, concentrate on building the muscle for what you want to DO not what you want to look like. The looks will come as you find what you love to do and do it... Any gal will throw themselves at a rock climber for his body over that of a weight lifter... Use the weights as a tool to get where you are going, not a goal and you'll be surprised how it all falls into place. In his prime, Rienhold Messner (climbed Everest solo without oxygen) in his prime could do one finger pull ups with three of his fingers on one hand and two of his fingers on his weaker hand. Now that's strong!

If you want "Bulk" not muscle, eat fat and drink beer. lots of calories there, but you can't eat your way to a muscular body.

I think that it is wrong for you to sleep after you eat, because it will be bad for your stomach and liver.
The main thing is to count your calories. Try to consume the same amount of calories everytime you eat. And it is better to eat 5 to 6 times of small meal a day, rather than eat 3 times of huge portion.
Muscle builds on protein, so you might want to count the protein you consume,
Take the weight gainer or protein shake is also good for building muscle.
Good luck.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic. STOP WORRYING ABOUT.

i lift all the time and when i want to increase mass i just lift more. and when i feel hungry i eat. not to the point where im stuffed but just full. and for god sakes don't go PROTEIN crazy. yes you need protein but not in huge amount. your body will want carbs for energy and the protein to repair your torn muscles. any additional protein is just stored as fat. the misconception that if you take in alot of protein that you'll get buff is false. fat maybe buff no. so eat healthy and to nourish your body and the muscles will come.

you need to start counting calories. I don't know anyone that counts calories that has a problem gaining weight. start at 2x your body weight and use macros of 40/40/20, that's 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fats.

if you don't gain weight. increase your cals by 10% each week until weight gain occurs...
