It depends where from in the US and where to in Canada. As far as the paper work and red tape it is pretty easy provided you are in good legal standing. Visas are are simple to obtain through the state dept., and since the traffic code is similar so are drivers licenses.
Culturally it very similar unless you plan to move to Quebec where it is not uncommon to find people who only speak French. If you live in the west the change is minute. Most of their services are comparable to what you would expect to in the US and due to their limited population some are much better.

Hmm, I'm not too sure. I moved recently from Cali to North Carolina. Drove across country. After doing that, everything seems pretty easy. But since u are doing the States to Canada it might be lil difficult. Try doing a search and find out what road blocks u'll have to jump over. Good Luck

Nah, it's way harder to move from Canada to the US. But you should just apply for dual citizenship, then if you change your mind your not screwed. You need a passport, I know that much.
