I have friends coming over tonight (regular thing) for coffee and I usually do a dip and chips or some cookies. Anyone have any new ideas??? Adult and kid friendly. I have to race home from work and prepare it in between dinner and before they come... so something quick.

This dip is really good...I took it to my in-laws at Christmas...I had Wheatables crackers to use for dipping.

CREAMY GARLIC SALSA DIP

1 envelope Lipton ® Recipe Secrets ® Savory Herb with Garlic Soup Mix

1 container (16 oz.) sour cream

1/2 cup prepared salsa

1. In medium bowl, combine all ingredients; chill at least 2 hours.

2. Serve with your favorite dippers.

---

You could also pick up a bean dip, salsa and chips from the grocery store on the way home.

Most grocery stores carry 7 layer dips. they are good and you wont have to do anything but open it. look in the deli section . Also,Nachos are easy as well...bag of tortillas...shredded cheddar cheese (or whatever else you like) put under the broiler or in the microwave til the cheese melts. bowl of Salsa..done!
Cookies are good. Also, in your freezer section again. you can get a variety pack of really great bite size desserts. There is one with, mini cream puffs and eclairs( i think its pepridge farms)...really good stuff. Just plate them. by the time your guest arrive they will be thawed and ready to eat. I also get a lot of bakery items at the grocery store. Sometimes you can get some nice pies for under five dollars. Also mini cheesecake variety packs. Lots of easy stuff out there. Don't be afraid to buy pre made stuff. Most of it is as good as from scratch and don't take any time at all.

You can serve icecreams or some butter cookies
It does not take time, just mix 1 cup of flour with 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 teaspoon salt well and make rount shapes of it (cookie cutters can be used or hand itself ) and bake(4 to 5 minutes) ok.

Hey, I always go for chili....staples from the pantry....
1 Can of:Red Beans, Black Beans, Baked Beans, Pinto Beans.
Then here is the secret.....brown some hamburger but, use taco season, just like you are making taco meat....but, you put it into the pot too! that easy!! Maybe add some crushed red pepper, cumin, and black pepper.....
depending on taste...with kids go light....
Good luck!

i say hors devours.. (orderves) ha ha
do the lil piggies in a blanket.. (lil smokies in crescent rolls) cheap and easy.. chips and salsa.. that doesnt go with coffee.. but if you want something to go with coffee.. try danishes or or fruit tarts from your local bakery.. petit fors (small cake like thingies ) or a cake..
it shows you took time to make the effort.. good luck..
