who thinks this COULD BE true?

riverboat days, depth of river was measured by fathoms or knots/marks on a rope...

2 fathom ( or could be said -to fathom something) is also written 2 marks

Mark Twain is really Two Marks...or Two Deep

could it be all this time he was playing with words, his writings he knew would be "too deep" for others to understand, especially about the humor about religion and sillyness?

example: "In the first place God made idiots. This was for practice. Then he made Members of Congress." ~Mark Twain (Sam Clemmens)

No. Twain was not a secret meaning kind of guy. Only Will Rogers could match him for being plain-spoken.. He had a spiritual connection with the river, and life on it, but he celebrated that in his writings.
