I practically own PV and I am here to tell you. You will not be drinking in the bars of this town. You will be carded because you are too young. The legal drinking age its 18 here. There is something called REGLAMENTOS inspectors (City business law enforcement) They are all under cover, inspecting bars (even those opened all night). If they catch a bar serving you they have to authority to close down the business, even take their business license away or not renew it. So most bar owners are not as stupid as you think. They rather stay open for business to sell to all the adults that are safe potential customers.
One more thing. If your buddies get drinks for you, I suggest you hide to drink them because the city police can arrest you as well for under age drinking on the beach and or streets. Now if you get drunk and get in trouble or make a scene your buddies will be in more trouble than they are going to be able to talk their way out of it.
My suggestion to you is to respect the law here and be good. You do not want to end up in a Mexican jail. A lot of those guys in there like white meat!!!

It depends on how you view alcohol. I was never fascinated with alcohol. If you think about it, what minor would think that beer tastes good? No, they just drink it to appear more "mature." Now, I do drink often, but I do it in realization that it helps me relax from a stressful and sad life. Do I like the taste of alcohol? Not really, which means that I can definitely live without it. So, it all depends. If you do it just to be cool, it's one thing. If you're a person of extremes, it may be habit-forming. Mild drunkenness isn't as much a burden until you can't choose when it occurs. It's legal to get tipsy within your home, but as soon as you step out, it's illegal.

Maybe.
If the bar requires an ID then it could be a problem. Of course 10 or 20 dollars given to the right person could solve that problem. Remember MONEY TALKS AND B.S. WALKS!
Yes of course I know that. And my answer gives you some suggestions.
At the clubs in Mexico they check id's. I am in my 40's and they still check id's. That is what they do to get in. Now some places like restuarants maybe not, but you must know that even in Mexico they have their own system of laws.

Go to www.vallartascene.com and look through the forums or ask a question. My 19 year old son and his friends went there last year and they had a blast. The people on the vallartascene forum are really great and will answer your question quickly and honestly. My husband and I own a condo down there. Lots of fun down there and very safe. You should have a great time. Holly
