I was in my back yard the other day with tennis shoes. I did not notice any ants or anything but there were a lot of mosquitos. I came inside and about an hour later noticed that my toe hurt. I took off my shoe and sock and my toe was red like something bit me. There was a raised area but I could not see a bite mark. My toe is still pretty red but only hurts to the touch like when a press it or my shoe rubs on it. I have been putting neosporin on it. I just don't know what could have bit me. I have had ant bites before but they just look more like a pimple. This raised area has no head. I have been havine a problem with fleas. We used advantage on the cats but they keep getting fleas and the bites have been causing the cats to have an allergic reaction. I wonder if that is what bit me. I checked my shoe after I found the bite for a spider but did not find anything. Any ideas?

Hello,

I do not think it is the fleas because you would have multiple bitten areas and its usually around your legs and ankles, and it sounds like its very swollen and sore.
and tender to the touch.

I think it was a spider bite.

now many times its harmless, but take a closer look at the bite itself, does it feel like you should have a " head on it"
is it warm to the touch? its the swelling increasing?

and are there red lines going up and down your leg or foot?

this would be a bad sign. and i would suggest get to the hospital.

if its sore in one particular area like under the nail bed then it could just be an ingrown toe nail. and the tennis shoe just irritated it. but i suppose you would notice that.

and most of the other insect are in hibernation right now.

to take care of the spider bite take some benadryl allergy, either way this will help with whatever kind of bite it is.

NEXT- go to the store and buy 3 cans or more of flea and tick spray , and a some of the stuff they sell in the lawn and garden section for the out door fleas.

place your pets in one room of the house, and not outside

spray the all the rooms of the house , including the beds ect..
under the beds and everything, go completely psyco with the bug spray,

make sure you wear long sleeves and socks, and pants,
and start spraying over your head first like an air freshener, reason being its gonna settle to the floor, and hopefully land on the fun little critters.

empty and entire can on the buggers, and one can for each room,

While you spray close your self in the room as you finish spraying close the door behind you when you leave the room,

After the halls and all the rooms are done, go to the bathroom, and start washing your pets, give em there flea baths, and still keep them locked in the room,

then go outside and do the grass.

make sure that you check the weather channel to see when the next rain is due, cause we wouldn't want to waste our time,

you could also check it via the internet.

Your pets are gonna be crying but leave them inside there for the day,

they will thank you for this later,
( that's what my mother used to say )

and in your car keep some flea and tick powder,

each time you go visit a friend, go to the park, and especially the vet, powder them up before they get back into your car.

Well good luck.

It sounds like a spider bite. It may have climbed inside your shoe before you went outside into the yard. Like you said, ant bites are characterized by the pimple with pus sometimes. However, spider bites can exhibit a neurotoxin effect or loss of movement to an extremity followed by swelling and puffiness. I know this from being bitten by spiders. When they climb inside your shoe, they tend to get press up against the shoe. But the struggle to find a soft spot on your foot to bite, which would be between the toes. Okay, I hope this helps.

This is a hard one to answer. What I would do is go on line under insect bites and look at some pictures and see if you can find something that looks like your bite.

I did that once and found out I was bit by a spider and I knew just what kind.

this sounds like fleas 100%. I had a bad experience with them in one room of my house as they had built several nests. there is a burning itch when you touch the affected area as well as several little bumps indicative of fleas.

it sounds like fleas - ask your vet how to get rid of them sooner rather than later
