Why are u going on a diet at 14??? If you are not overweight based on yr age, then there is NO reason or the diet and your family is right. BUT if you are overweight, then that should be obvous reason to your family that you are right. In that case, show them relevant literature / medical books on a healthy diets. Maybe get your family doctor to talk to them instead. In such situatons, I doubt that they will "listen" to you so get authoratative and credible sources to speak to them or show to them. Although, really at the end of the day, I am not for diet either - exercise is the better and ONLY option. Moreover, don't forget that u are still growing and thus diets, WILL hamper your growth... you do wanna grow up pretty and tall, don't ya??

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic.

Well I guess if you eat something healthier from the menu... Sometimes even the healthy stuff is packed with calories that you wouldn't think is there- Like the Fruit Smoothies from McDonald's have as much sugar as a pint of ice cream. So I guess it wouldn't be okay unless you actually looked up the calorie count and made sure you weren't going over your limit.

you are far too young to be worrying about how much you weigh. 14, what is that 7th grade?

you should be worrying about hitting those books...
