Feed her diet dog food. Take her for walks (in nice weather.) Alwayz have water readily available. Use the suggested servings panel on your dog food. Maybe less than that even. Nothing in excess of what the suggested serving is anywayz. I have the same prob. My cat is overweight but what makes it worse is that she had to have a hind leg amputated :( & the vet said that she shouldn't be eating as much cuz of the loss of the 4th leg :( If your dog isn't too old or anything, maybe you can buy a laser pen. Have her chase it around. I don't know if dogs are in to that type of game but I know that cats love it :D

You need to find the lowest-fat diet food you can, and make sure you're feeding her for weight loss, not weight maintenance. (Most diet foods will have 2 separate tables on them for this purpose, pick the table for weight loss). Do not feed any table scraps or wet food whatsoever. She also needs serious exercise- daily walks of 1 hour each, 2-3 times per day. If you can take her to an open field to run and throw balls, that's great too. The more active you can keep her the better.
If you're feeding any supermarket brand like Purina, Alpo, Pedigree, Iams, etc., that is your biggest problem right there. Cheap foods are full of fat and fillers and very little protein, and they cause obesity very quickly. Try one of these brands instead:
Artemis Weight Management, Chicken Soup Reduced Calorie, Wellness Weight Management, Innova Evo Reduced Fat.
You must realize that just because she acts 'hungry', you can't feed her more. Stick to her strict diet, give her lots of exercise, and the weight will start to come off.
Also, have a vet check her for thyroid conditions and other problems that could be contributing to her weight.

We are learning about this in school right now. The suggestion would be to cut her food in half and spread it out within a day, don't give it to your dog all at once. If your dog is a puppy I wouldn't feed it anymore puppy food. If your dog is an adult, I would recommend putting it on a diet food like Iams weight control or Hills light food that has less calories, but if you change its food make sure you mix it with the old food for 7 days and slowly wean your dog off of it's old food. Don't feed her tables scrapes anymore if you do and try to make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise. Your dog might be a bit hungry for awhile but it's ok. Your dog will slowly lose the weight and your dog won't feel so hungry. If your dog hasn't lost any weight than have her checked out for hypo thyroid. That can cause them to get overweight

In this respect, dogs are not different than their human friends. If they eat too many of the wrong foods and don't get enough exercise, they will gain weight.
I'm sure if your dog is seriously overweight, your vet will make recommendations. Listen and follow his/her advice. Dogs are like children...they depend on their "parent/owner" for meals. There are quality "diet" dog foods available, but the proper amount of any quality food without the unnecessary "snacks" will help.
She didn't gain the weight overnight, so she's not going to lose it quickly either. A consistent diet of good quality PET food (not human food) and daily walks will help her body regulate her weight before you know it.

Ask your Vet about her weight and get her checked for Diabetes. There are "light" dog foods out there that are good quality but make sure that is what your dog needs. Skip tablescraps and fatty treats. You may need to feed her less and exercise her more. I have a Golden Mix and she tends to be a chunkster. So I feed her a bit less and quit giving her as many treats, and give her treats that are not fattening.
Her diet and exercise have helped her have a normal weight for her breed. She is not diabetic, but Golden's are prone to that.

Just as you would help a person loose weight. Get your dog out for exercise: play with her, take walks and all that stuff.
Read the label on her dog food. Switch her to a lower calorie and lower protein food. If there is one in the line of food she is currently on, try that. Switching food can sometimes lead to runny BM's (turds) but after a few days it should straighten out.
Stick with it, its worth it for both your dog and you.

A few weeks after you stop feeding your dog left over fat, its appetite will become normal and it will be satisfied with a normal amount of dog food. Exercise is important too.

stop feeding your dog table scraps..that is the only way a dog gains weight..and I know you are doing it .
My mother's last 2 dogs died at an early age because of being overweight from eating table food, that they gave the dog from leftovers..it was disgusting what those dogs ate.
