The denture base (the pink part) is not and has never been porcelain. These days, I wouldn't consider using porcelain denture teeth. There are a few brands of "composite resin" teeth which we might consider "fandy plastic" that are much stronger than porcelain as far as resisting breakage. Dentsply IPN teeth used to have a 5 year manufacturer's warranty (although I don't see that listed today) and Dentsply SLM teeth have a "clinical lifetime warranty." Ivoclar Vivodent PE and Orthosit PE composite teeth are absolutely beautiful and very lifelike in appearance.

Denture fees vary widely, so I won't venture a quote. I do not charge any different fee for using these premium teeth, because these are the only teeth I use. Their high cost is built into my fee.

Porcelain Dentures

Both will break if dropped I'm afraid. Most dentures are made of the acrylic. I've seen a few from the porcelain and they are pretty, and yes more expensive. You should consider just how often are you going to buy new dentures though? Every 10 years, 20 years? So isn't it wise to buy the ones you really like, that look more natural, even if they are a little more expensive? Ask your dentist to show you both so you can see for yourself. Hope I've given you something to think about. Good luck.

PS. Don't get trapped into the standard A2 denture shade. It looks like a denture! Go a little lighter for a brighter smile. Most patients choose an A1 or B1 for their shade and are really happy with the results.

Porcelain teeth are far away more beautiful than acrylic teeth. Although they cost more, they will last longer and can be integrate a new denture base, if needed. Porcelain teeth do not stain or abrade as acrylic teeth. But are not unbreakable.

It is actually the teeth that are porcelain and look lifelike. These are costly dentures at around $5-6K.

Some say so but, I'm happy with the acrylic resin ones. The porcelain ones break if dropped I hear. And cost more.
