Ok, first how much did he eat and what kind of chocolate? For a 7lb dog it would take approx 5oz of milk choc, 1.5 of semi sweet and 1/2 oz of dark choc to be considered a toxic dose. Hydrogen Peroxide is the recommended way to make them vomit, you can repeat the dose you gave up to 3 times waiting 20 mins between each dose. If you think the amount of chocolate is in the danger zone, please go to your er vet in the area. Its always the small dogs that do the worst with this type of ingestion, and its much better to prevent the symptoms than to try and control them after they've started. At toxic levels, it will cause vomiting/diarrhea, muscle tremors, disorientation, heart arrythmias, seizure, coma and death. This is not something to wait on.

You didn't say how much chocolate your dog ate but since he is so small I would definitely call either your Vet if you can reach him or her after hrs, or call an emergency clinic NOW.
Chocolate toxicity signs are panting, hyper behavior, diarrhea and or vomiting, some trembling usually within the first hr and then can get worse including muscle spasms, coma and death.
I don't think the hydrogen peroxide will hurt him but don't know and am concerned about that too because of his size, so please call an emergency clinic and ask.
If your dog ate a truffle or two and they weren't mostly dark chocolate, he will probably be okay. More than that I'd worry. Darker is worse, Baker's chocolate is the worst.
I had a German Shepherd dog that ate a whole bag of chocolate mini bars and she was fine. She ate it wrappers and all. The Vet said he would be concerned had she been a small dog eating that much chocolate OR if she had eaten Baker's Chocolate.
This Christmas that just passed, a client's dog, a maltese, ate about seven or eight dark chocolate candies and died. So chocolate can be dangerous and even fatal in a small dog or in a larger dog if Baker's Chocolate or too much dark chocolate.
Peroxide is commonly used to try and induce vomiting but since your dog didn't that is something you should also tell the emergency clinic staff.

Well this is risky business, as you have two possibilities going. Your dog could be acting this way because of the chocolate or because of you inducing vomiting. Any time you induce vomiting the dog feels pretty yuck for a while after that. This could be why he is being silent. But the whole vomiting blood is what is scary. When my dog ate some socks and the vet induced vomiting, only the socks and some food came up, no blood. I would keep a VERY close eye on him and call the vet ASAP!

Peroxide is used by most vets to induce vomiting. Great idea to get to the problem right away. I don't think that you probably gave him enough to make him vomit. So now, I think I would consult a vet and see what they recommend.
I've never heard of a dog dying from peroxide.
Good luck, let me know how this plays out. I've always wondered what happens when they eat chocolate.

Hydrogen peroxide is an antidote or an emetic and you did not give him too much.If he has no untoward signs or symptoms chances are he did not eat a fatal amount of chocolate and that amt of peroxide won't hurt him. Some people on this site say some of the most outrageous things I have ever heard like [Hydrogen peroxide]?not for animals?????They are the stupid ones that need to keep their nose out of peoples business when they have no idea WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!

Your dog shouldn't die from peroxide unless you keep giving it to them. I was taught that regular chocolate won't kill a dog unless they eat double their weight so if your dog ate 14 pounds of chocolate then it could be fatal. Bakers chocolate is what is harmful to dogs, atleast this year they said. Your dog should be fine. The chocolate should pass through his system and he should be ok. I gave my dog peroxide to make it throw up and he didn't but she was completely fine. I wouldn't worry unless he starts acting completely different than usually

It would take an entire bag of chocolate to kill a dog and most likely then it would just get sick(vomit). You really have nothing to worry about. Trust me I used to be a pet store manager for 7 years and we covered this issue. The peroxide on the other hand is not very good for the dog. Keep a close eye on the dog's behavior. Most likely that amount shouldnt hurt the dog but if he starts acting very different take him to the vet.

no it won't try giving more and make sure you call and er vet now. they will be able to better direct you as to what to do. but the er vet will tell you that hydrogen peroxide is what they would use. but call the er vet now. some dogs are fine and some aren't. don't take that chance, give them a call. good luck.
