the answer is simple....Religion is NOT a search for truth, it is a search for something to put your faith in (ie: FEAR)

Science IS viewed as the search for truth, why does it block religion?

Because science can be fallible.
Science "facts" are sometimes actually theories.

Religion isn't exactly, the search for the truth, but, I've seen science back up religion, and vice versa.

The Bible doesn't block science. In fact, many of the great scientific discoveries were made based on the Bible. Science has never shown anything in the Bible to be false, rather science has shown that the Bible was correct on scientific matters thousands of years before the scientic community.

Islam compliments science.. It also encourages muslims to study science and invent..
There are numerous references to science in the Quran.
Talking about nature, humanity, astronomy etc.. It all compliments and verifies what science is talking about today..
in fact what we know today about the human anatomy was due to Islamic historian scientists of the past

Which religion are you referring to? Historically speaking modern science rests on the shoulders of people who were Bible believers and believed in a Creator God.
