Yesterday my cat/s scratched and bit me badly while I was bathing them (they messed in the carrier). Today I feel dizzy and like I'm tripping a little, I can't concentrate well, and I fell all weird in the head, esp when I talk. I am allergic to pennicilin, and I'm not supposed to take most? any? antibiotics (due to candidemia/invasive candidiasis/fungemia). Any idea what I should do? My husbands doctor told him, his wounds were badly infected or something?, and could've been fatal, and that he should've gone to the ER imediately yesterday. He is now on many huge antibiotic "horsepills", but I have no idea what to do, and I feel so bad =(

It's not "a little yeast", I have a suppressed immune system, and it is throughout my body, and also possibly fatal if not controlled. Also, it's not just pennicilin that I can't take, it's most or all?
whatever can feed the yeast. =(

OhmyGod! Get to the hospital! Are you nuts? Who's there with you? Your husband? Tell him to get his coat on and drive you to the hospital now. You need some form of prohylaxis against the crap that was on your cats claws. Cryptosporidia is extremely nasty. You do not want that. Go. Now.

Just put Neosporin on it for a few days. Your body is reacting to whatever bacteria got in the wound. The bacteria could have already been on your hands, not necessarily coming from the cat's mouth. Too many people run for the doctor's office. Let your body heal by itself. IF your hand gets swollen and red streaks appear go to the dr. Last year I got bit by a rat that our cat brought in (I picked it up). The only reason the thing bit me was a stupid girl freaked out and screamed scaring the rat. I put the rat outside then washed my hands. My guests insisted I go to the hospital, that I was going to get the plague, rabies and anything else they could conjure up from watching horror movies. I refused because I knew they were overreacting. Know what? Absolutely NOTHING happened during the night, the next day, the following week, the approaching month and the last year.

I assume you were both wounded in the same incident by the same cats. If the wounds/infections are possibly fatal, what does a little yeast mean? Screw 'I might get yeast" thinking, and act on the potential to save your life.

Infection = Bad.
Allergy = Bad.

Go to doctor/hospital. Get treatment for infection.
Advise them of your allergies.
Let them Do Their Job and find an appropriate medication for you.

go to the doctor, immediately. even if you're allergic to penicillin, there are other antibiotics that they can prescribe, if needed.

in any case, clean well with soap and water and swab with rubbing alcohol. if it swells up too much and redness occurs around it, go to the doc.
