Or would you put your trust in God's plan? It seems to me that if you claim to have faith in God, having surgery would be a direct contradiction to your supposed faith.
If you choose to put your life in science's hands when it really matters, will God forgive you? Will you go to Heaven?
What is your justification for asking help from science when you claim it to be untrue and evil?

I think that God has put this doctor or surgeon into my life to help me to get better. If that was the choice I would prefer to have the surgery knowing that in the infinite wisdom of God, that there would be a life lesson to be learned. To refuse surgery and to die would only stop the work that I do for my God here on earth in being kind and helping others.

If I was, then I would.

I don't think you understand the views of many religious people; from a Christian perspective, I would say that God has given everyone different talents. The ability to come up with science is God-given, so it is not a sin. Also, many Christians (which I am guessing you are referring to) don't believe one can lose one's salvation.

From an atheistic perspective, I would still say that Christians don't veiw science as untrue and/or evil.

Hi Angel of Antitheism. God gave us physicians so it is not sinful to see a doctor when we are not physically well. In Isaiah 38:21 Isaiah instructs Hezekiah to make a poultice of figs to heal a boil:

"Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a lump of figs, and apply it as a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover.”

In 1 Timothy 5:21 God tells us:

"No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities."

All healing comes from God, but the healing God speaks of in the Bible is a spiritual healing of our sins. In Matthew 9:12-13 God tells us:

"... “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Well yes because God is the one who puts the surgeons hands and things where they need to go. He watches over it. If it is meant for you to die you will, no matter if you have surgery or not.

logically they should give up the surgery and let God heel them, but because they know this won't happen they opt for the surgery. for some mysterious reason God doesn't want to lend his hand
