There is a chance at salvation and that is this: Jesus has already died for everyone, including those who will never hear of Him. The question is how can they "accept" God ? It is simpler than you think. God is present everywhere and he hides himself from nobody. Not even an evil communist regime can keep him from being among His people. So when people accept the attributes of God.(For example , love, giving, happiness, kindness, forgiveness, and embrace all these things, they are in effect accepting God the same way people talk about accepting Jesus as your Savior in order to be saved.

You are also told what to believe in if you are born and raised in a Christian country, or Muslim, or Hindu. And most people never get past the brainwashing they get as a child, so it's not very different from what you describe as communism.
(Sidetrack -- when I was about 12, and growing up in a Christian household, I asked a similar question. I put it as "if we had been born in some other country, mightn't we be Buddhist or something?" The parental response was "you must be a communist".)
How do you *know* whether Catholicism or Lutheranism is correct? How do you *know* that Islam is all wrong? Have you ever really had the opportunity to do an open and side-by-side comparison?
Indeed, how do you know that the Universalist Church is not correct? They say that everyone receives salvation, regardless.

In this day and age the scenario you describe is highly improbable because of the literacy rates in all communist countries. But yes, if a person leads a good life and does no harm to others I see no reason why he should not be rewarded.

We are all accountable to God whether we've read the bible or not, or have even heard of God. The bible says that God reveals Himself to us in nature and in our own hearts. But we still reject Him.
If you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” - Deuteronomy 4:29
The ball is in our court. So, everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known. That's why some say there is no God of the bible or they create their own god. They have eyes, but they do not see ... ears, but do not hear. They simply haven't looked with their heart.

You can ask the same question and replace "communist" with "Christian" or "Islamic" or almost any religion.
None of these religions allow freethought. They all tell you what to beleive and don't allow you to understand the true rights and wrongs of life. They don't allow you to decide for yourself what is right and wrong.

The one attribute that was good. You wasn't required to be exposed to all that fantasy of the la la land of eternity. So you didn't have to be tightly locked in a cocoon of ignorance in fear the fantasy boogie man Satan wold get you. BB

Well, somehow they start underground churches. God will find a way where there is no way. They tried that and it didn't work, somehow God got through the communist barriers.
