is there anyway to expedite the process of having braces? Not really into having them for 2 years (havent had the consultation yet but i figure thats it) but if speeding up the process leads to bad results then ill just stick it out for the 2 years.. So is there anyway to make the process go faster? like more frequent visits?

I have had braces before as well and you can help getting them off a little sooner (but not a whole lot) by cooperation. Make sure you wear your rubberbands correctly and when you're told, don't jeopardize your wire by eating hard candy or biting into hard foods (break it first), and go to all of your orthodontics appointments. You may not be able to take them off a year earlier, but you can prolong the time you wear braces if you don't take care of them.

Impacted canines and you want treatment faster? Do everything the dentist recommends, watch what you eat and stick to the foods you are allowed to eat, keep all of your appointments, wear your elastics, when something breaks get it fixed quick. All of these will help reduce the time your in ortho. As far as going faster by speeding up the movement of the teeth, it's not possible. They have to be moved slow to allow for new bone growth as they are being shifted. You won't believe it now but, it'll all be over before you realize it. Good luck!

The way to speed it up is to be diligent about wearing your headgear and retainer before they put the braces on. That can make all the difference in the world as to how long you need braces or even if you need them at all.

the duration of wearing braces depends on the condition. if a lot of adjustments need to be done, it may take longer. being cooperative and going to see the dentist whenever you're told may not speed up the process, but avoid any delays. =)
